Leeds fans found the funny side to being 2-0 down to Bristol City

From being crowned champions of England’s second tier in mid-September, it’s hard to be that cheery as a Leeds fan when looking at their club’s current dwelling in 11th place in the Championship.

The Elland Road faithful haven’t lost their sense of humour, though, as shown by their reaction on Sunday to going two goals down to visiting Bristol City.

Leeds found themselves up against it early on having twice failed to deal with long throw-ins within the game’s first twenty minutes, but a raucous crowd at Elland Road wasn’t letting the scoreline dampen their spirits.

These tweets below from Leeds fans sum up why the Yorkshire club has one of the best fan bases in the country…

The sarcastic chanting somehow seemed to motivate the players, however, as Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Kemar Roofe rescued Leeds a point with goals inside the final 20 minutes.

Paul Heckingbottom, in his first home game as Leeds manager, lauded the support.

He said: “I thought they were fantastic. At 2-0 there can’t be many people not singing.

“They played their part and I thought the support deserved three. I can’t shout as loud as 30,000 — they made a huge difference.”
