West Bromwich Albion have moved ahead of Leeds United in the race to sign Swansea City defender Kyle Bartley, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Bartley is contracted to Swansea until the summer of 2021, but the 27-year-old is widely expected to leave the Liberty Stadium ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.
Leeds had the 6ft 4in tall Bartley on loan during the 2016-17 season, and the centre-back put in a string of impressive performances for the former Premier League outfit.
The Whites have been linked with another move over the last few months, but it seems that West Brom are now in pole position to land the former England Under-17 international.
Leeds are currently finding it difficult to get deals over the line, and the club’s supporters have aired their frustration on the latest news surrounding Bartley, who is valued at £3.15m by Transfermarkt.
West Brom are a big pull at Championship level, and Bartley might well be a replacement for Craig Dawson, who looks set to leave the Hawthorns.
