Leeds United fans on Twitter were not happy with the FA after Southampton striker Charlie Austin escaped punishment for his post-match rant about refereeing, just over a month after Pontus Jansson was banned for comments he made in a live interview.
The Whites’ Swedish centre-back was suspended for one match by the FA after he questioned referee Jeremy Simpson’s decision to award Brentford a penalty during the 1-1 draw between the two teams at the start of October.
The 27-year-old later apologised on Twitter for his comments, but Leeds did not appeal the ban which he served in the home game against Ipswich.
This team have made me realise what a real teammate means. I love you guys and the goal was for all of you! Now home my wife and probably my little princess will arrive soon!
And also SORRY for bad words in TV after the game, was a lot to take in and couldn’t control my self! pic.twitter.com/efL5S5PbNT

However, Southampton striker Charlie Austin has now escaped punishment from the FA for his post-match rant about referee Simon Hooper’s decision to disallow his goal in the 1-1 draw with Watford last weekend, and Leeds fans are not happy at all.

Charlie Austin escapes punishment. How can the FA continue to get away with being so openly biased and incompetent. Jansson’s comments were FAR more subdued. Austin went full loco and even got up the next morning to push it further and mock his own interview. Pathetic.

Someone at Leeds should be on the phone asking for an explanation. I don’t mind that Jansson was banned as long as every other case like his ends with the same result.

One false move and we get hammered because it’s Leeds, everyone else can do as they please. Trouble is we have nobody to fight the corner. All corrupt the lot of them, they couldn’t lie straight in bed.

Charlie Austin getting no punishment for his outburst at the weekend, yet Jansson got a ban for his comments against Brentford, FA’s consistency summed up perfectly… #lufc

Charlie Austin escaping punishment shows the FA for what they are. Don’t think either should be punished but how you can deem that as acceptable and Jansson unacceptable is a joke. Corrupt, the lot of them

So Charlie Austin has escaped punishment for his rant at officials yet Jansson received a 1 match ban for lesser comments. Couldn’t make it up.
