Leeds fans fuming at Adam Pope’s Phillips update

Some Leeds United fans on Twitter are furious after Adam Pope said on BBC Radio Leeds that he thinks Kalvin Phillips is likely to go to Aston Villa.

The journalist was asked on West Yorkshire Sport Daily (July 2, 17:00) if he thought the midfielder would leave the club this summer, to which he responded: “I do think that that is the way it’s going at this stage which would be a massive blow, I think it will get to the stage where Leeds can hold back (on selling him).”

Pope went on to say that he believes Phillips’ valuation is well below the £30m which was reported earlier in the week: “From what I’m hearing you’re looking at anything between £15-20m.”

This sparked outrage amongst the Leeds fanbase, and supporters weren’t shy about sharing their feelings on social media.

One branded it as a ‘disgrace’ while another called it a ‘diabolical sale’.

Phillips was one of the Whites’ best players last season as he earnt himself a spot in the Championship Team of the Year.

It remains to be seen whether or not the 23-year-old will be sold in this transfer window, but if a deal does go through the fanbase will be absolutely fuming.
