Loads of Leeds fans have been reflecting on Wednesday’s Championship win over Swansea City, and they’re delighted with Ezgjan Alioski’s form as a left-back.
Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds squad looks completely different to Paul Heckingbottom’s, despite most of the starting XI being the exact same.
The transformation players like Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper have undergone since the Argentine’s arrival has been a sight to behold, but until recently the same could not be said for Alioski, who has often divided fans.
The Macedonian international was primarily a winger before Bielsa took over, but his end product was extremely poor while he frustrated fans with his inability to learn the offside rule, and he then had a pretty steep learning curve after switching to left-back to cover for Barry Douglas.
However, the 27 year-old has begun to show exactly why Bielsa trusts him in that spot, where his work rate and crossing abilities are on full show.
The versatile attacker gets up and down the left flank for 90 minutes week in week out, and his link-up with Jack Harrison is getting stronger by the match.
He set up Harrison’s goal in the 2-1 win over Swansea on Wednesday, and he racked up three key passes and eight crosses in a stunning performance.
You can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below, as it looks like Bielsa’s Alioski gamble is beginning to pay off…
Alioski at left back is one of the best attacking full backs in the league. What a player can do when played in a comfortable position. He was never meant to be a left winger. He was bought as a right winger who could also play left back. 3 very different positions. #lufc #mot

Alioski should stay blond. He seems to play better. #lufc

Tell you what, Douglas has a right job on his hands getting back in this time over Alioski, outstanding again at full back #LUFC

Amongst the (justifiable) noise about how great Kalvin was last night its maybe been slightly lost that Bamford and Roofe looked like they'd been playing together all season and Alioski and Harrison ripped them apart down their right and are developing a real understanding. #lufc
