Leeds fans not interested in Pennington return

It would be fair to say that Matthew Pennington did not exactly set the world alight with his performances whilst on loan at Leeds United last term.

The centre-back joined Leeds from Everton last July, and spent the 2017-18 campaign on loan with the Championship club – making 24 appearances.

Pennington is currently being linked with a move back to Elland Road – as covered by the Liverpool Echo – and the Leeds fans have been reacting to the speculation.

Pennington has been involved for Everton during pre-season, and actually signed a new three-year contract with the Premier League club in May.

However, it seems that the 23-year-old will again be heading out on loan this term.

Leeds are currently gearing up for their Championship opener against Stoke City on Sunday afternoon, and the club’s fans are hopeful that 6ft 1in Pennington will not return before the transfer window closes on August 9.
