According to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay on Twitter, West Brom’s on-loan ace Harvey Barnes was at the Leeds United training ground in the summer ready to sign for the Whites, before eventually choosing to sign for the Baggies at the last minute.
don’t know the number but it got to the stage where he was at Thorp Arch, prior to Harrison signing. Opted for West Brom at the last minute

After his goal and stand-out performance in West Brom’s 4-1 thrashing of Leeds on Saturday evening, Whites fans were fuming that their club had missed out on taking the Leicester youngster on loan for the season.
Barnes has now scored six goals and provided three assists in 17 league appearances for Darren Moore’s side and looks to be one of the best loan signings made by any Championship team over the summer.
After the loss on Saturday, Leeds sit in third in the league table, but the news from Hay left many fans on Twitter wondering what could have been if Barnes had signed for their side rather than West Brom.

Why did we not end up signing Harvey Barnes ? He's best player in the league ! #LUFC

Didn’t think #lufc were awful yesterday but we made several errors and got punished for them. They’ve got a top Championship offence. Shame we missed out on Barnes he’s great. Leeds need a new keeper and Clarke has to come in for Alioski. Dallas should be sold and Coyle recalled.
