Leeds United fans had plenty to be pleased about after their comfortable 2-0 win over Ipswich took them to the top of the Championship table on Wednesday evening, leaving The Tractor Boys rooted to the bottom of the standings.
However, many Leeds fans on Twitter were angry with the club’s lack of defensive depth as centre-back Gaetano Berardi limped off after just 27 minutes in just his second game back from a knee injury, being replaced by Stuart Dallas.
Berardi fell awkwardly and was unable to continue, with what manager Marcelo Bielsa described as ‘tension on the muscle’ according to Leeds Live.
Striker Kemar Roofe and centre-back Liam Cooper’s goals secured the three points for the Whites, but many were more worried about the defensive options in Bielsa’s small squad that has been seriously hindered by injuries in the past few weeks.
Check out some of the best tweets in reaction to the 30-year-old former full-back’s injury below, as many Leeds fans called for additions to the squad in January.
Another Berardi injury sadly. First port of call in January has to be another centre back. Having a natural in that position if the worst does happen with suspensions and injuries is a must!@LUFC #lufc #ALAW #MOT #LeedsIpswich

You can now imagine Berardi being ordered to watch 17 hours of videos on how to fall in a coordinated way. https://t.co/XeoosS2VZL

That's 6 different muscle injuries in 15 games…anything to do with the change in the sports medicine department e.g. change in focus?
