Loads of Leeds fans have been reacting to the latest update on Abel Hernandez, as it’s starting to look like Victor Orta might know what he’s doing after all.
Marcelo Bielsa had quite a lot of work to do when he arrived at Elland Road this summer, but most fans would agree the top priority must be adding some goals to the side.
If Bielsa starts the season with Caleb Ekuban up top it’s hard to see the wasteful youngster doing the job, so it’s no surprise to see links to pretty much every available striker under the sun.
Patrick Bamford, Matej Vydra and Abel Hernandez have all been linked, and fans are starting to feel they’ve dodged a bullet by not signing Hernandez.
The pacey Uruguayan missed most of last season through injury, and opted not to renew his contract with Hull.
While this means he is available on a free transfer, it also allows the player to up his wage demands, and the latest reports show exactly why Leeds didn’t make the move.
According to Russian football writer Artur Petrosyan, the 27 year-old’s wage demands are currently stalling a deal to sign for CSKA Moscow.
Needless to say, if his wage demands are too much for one of the biggest clubs in Russia then they were certainly too much for a Championship side, and fans all agree they’ve dodged a bullet on this one.

Dodged a bullet. Same as Vydra. Both asking for big money and both injured. Madness.

Got lucky on that one. He’s never fit. Always injured

Hahahahaha. Turns out both strikers we were previously after were total mugs. Bamford shall rise as our hero.
