Leeds United confirmed on Monday afternoon that defender Conor Shaughnessy had joined Mansfield Town on loan for the remainder of the season.
Shaughnessy actually spent the second half of the 2018-19 campaign on loan with Scottish outfit Hearts – making 11 appearances for the club in all competitions.
The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has not been involved for Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the early stages of the new campaign.
And therefore a loan exit to Mansfield has been authorised.

The defender is due to spend the entire season on loan with the League Two outfit, and will be looking to make an impression ahead of a return to Elland Road.
A number of Leeds fans have been on social media offering their views on the exit – a selection of which can be seen below:

What happened to this kid? 2 seasons ago he looked very capable of playing in the championship. Never saw him have a bad game. Now he’s off playing in league two. Mental.

He was terrible in the 2-0 defeat against Preston in the League Cup. Bielsa’s first defeat last season. I don’t think Shaughnessy or Tom Pearce have played for us since then. Bielsa must have seen enough to decide that they weren’t going to be in his plans

Conor is s decent footballer with an eye for a pass, hopefully the loan will get him much needed game time
