Leeds fans react as Grot earns international call-up

Loads of Leeds fans have been reacting to an update on the form of Jay-Roy Grot, and they’re hoping the youngster can excel under Marcelo Bielsa.

Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta have made some pretty shocking signings since arriving at the club, but fans suspect Grot may still have a future at Elland Road.

The young striker was one of the main scapegoats of last season’s horrific run of form, as he and Caleb Ekuban just seemed totally incapable of finding the back of the net.

He played 20 Championship games last season, scoring just once in a defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

The 20-year-old has now earned his first call-up to the Netherlands Under-21 squad though, after a good start to life on loan with VVV-Venlo.

The 6ft 4in youngster has scored twice in 11 appearances so far, and his overall play has benefitted from playing in a more open league.

Fans are wishing him all the best on international duty, and also hoping he can perform a similar turnaround to Mateusz Klich, who has rescued his Leeds career since returning from a loan spell in the Netherlands.
