Leeds fans react to Jordan Stevens signing a new contract with the club

The Leeds United academy has gone from strength to strength in recent months and Jordan Stevens seems to be the latest prospect who is highly thought of by the club and Victor Orta.

Stevens has signed a new contract extension with the club which sees his future guaranteed until 2022, having played regularly for the U23s team since joining from Forest Green Rovers in 2018.

It is a big step for the midfielder who had seemed to be going down the wrong path after being banned for breaching betting rules, consequently spending six weeks without playing football.

Can you name which season Leeds signed this flop?

Despite that, the club have seen the positives to his game, as have some supporters, who have taken the opportunity to praise the youngster.

Among the well wishes, there are messages of encouragement too, which should reinforce to the player that he needs to knuckle down and work hard to improve. Breaking into the first-team at Leeds is no easy task and it could get more difficult should they achieve promotion.

Signing a contract should be the first step for the player and act as a reassurance that he is doing the right things, but he must build on that by continuing to add to his game and learn from the coaching staff, as other young players have done.

Could Jordan Stevens be good enough for the first-team?

He has the likes of Jack Clarke and Jamie Shackleton to learn from, and the path to the first team that Marcelo Bielsa has created should act as a source of motivation to prevent future instances of rule-breaking, which many supporters still associate with him.

Meanwhile, fans have been reacting to Leeds drawing Arsenal in the FA Cup third round.
