According to Sky Sports News, Matej Vydra’s expected move to Leeds United has broken down, with the Whites failing to agree personal terms with the Derby County forward.
Vydra has been strongly linked with a move to Elland Road over the last couple of weeks, and it is understood that Marcelo Bielsa’s side were prepared to pay £11m for his services.
Vydra’s wage demands have proved to be problematic, however, and it now seems that the move has broken down just days before the new Championship season.
It leaves Leeds in a difficult position when considering that they need a new centre-forward before the transfer window slams shut.
However, it would be fair to say that the Leeds fans are not too bothered about the latest reports surrounding the 5ft 11in prolific Championship goalscorer.
A selection of the Twitter reaction from the Leeds supporters can be seen below:
So Matej Vydra has no intention of joining Leeds because we were a club that finished below Derby, just wait until this season when we finish above them and he would of wished he’d of joined #lufc #mot

I feel like we might have dodged a bullet with Vydra. It was a big investment for a mercurial player who would likely have struggled to justify the price-tag. Could easily have become a millstone for him & us after wage demands were made public. #lufc

Am I the only one happy we haven’t signed Vydra when he wanted 50K a week! Good player but not worth that at all! #lufc

Mercenary player. Wrong attitude if he didn’t want to come he wouldn’t have held any talks at all. Couldn’t get enough money and now stuck at a club that don’t want him.
