Leeds United fans on Twitter are refusing to believe the reason Pontus Jansson has given for leaving the club.
Speaking to Aftonbladet, the Swede stated that he was sold by the Yorkshire club so that they could balance their books in order to comply with financial fair play regulations.
However, the story that has been spun in recent days is that the 28-year-old was a disruptive presence in the dressing room, and many fans have chosen to believe that narrative instead.
Many refused to believe Jansson’s series of events due to the fact he was sold for such a small fee as he moved to the London outfit for an initial £4m which could eventually rise to £5.5m.
Perhaps we will never know Leeds’ true reason for selling Jansson as conflicting stories are coming from different sources, but the supporters aren’t willing to trust that the Swede is telling the truth.

He literally went for £5m?? Not buying that ?

A whole whopping sum of 5.5m

Don’t believe this at all. If this was he case we’d get rid of the fringe players quick. Especially for the money we got for him.
— Parma (@Parma__D) July 9, 2019
That’s not the story that the media were circulating.
— Dirty Leeds ¡Carajo! (@DirtyLeedsFC) July 9, 2019
If that was true we would have held out for a better deal no chance I’m buying that
— JT (@lufc_) July 9, 2019
Don’t believe that for a minute. Plenty of other players we could have sold for more, to balance FFP. Thought Janssen was above that kind of statement.
— Dee Dale ?? (@rebeldee) July 9, 2019
That’s a weird take. Can’t see that being true. Would never have taken 5.5 million if that was the case
— Brandon Yates (@Brandon7Yates) July 9, 2019
Well it didn’t take long to spout lies
— GARFORTH WHITES WAKEY 1970 (@mmwgreen) July 9, 2019
Just don’t believe that’s true.
