It’s not often a goal from a player not even at Leeds will cause so much reaction among their support but with Dan James that was certainly the case.
The winger scored on his Manchester United debut on Sunday as he completed a 4-0 rout for the Red Devils against Chelsea on the opening weekend of the Premier League campaign.
James was once a target for Leeds and almost joined the club from Swansea in January, only for the deal to fall through.
According to Yorkshire Evening Post, the winger was even sat at Elland Road waiting to be unveiled but Swansea refused to sign the deal off.
And it appears some supporters still haven’t forgotten about how he could have joined. One fan said that Leeds would have gone up last term if he signed whilst another said seeing the youngster score for United broke their heart.
A further individual said they were still bitter about the transfer failing to go through over the winter.
Leeds initially had a £5m proposal for James rejected before an improved bid saw them expect to finally confirm a deal. However, things didn’t go according to plan and the 21-year-old stayed in Wales.
Here’s the best of the reaction.

This will probably come up a lot this season, but just imagine if we did actually get Dan James over the line in January? I’m certain we’d have gone up. #LUFC
