Leeds fans split on Robbie Gotts’ debut performance

Leeds United experimented a little bit with their starting lineup against Arsenal on Monday evening.

Marcelo Bielsa handed out two debuts at the Emirates to Illan Meslier and Robbie Gotts.

Many Leeds fans were full of praise for the Frenchman, but supporters have seemingly been quite split on Gotts’ first taste of senior football.

One section of the fanbase really liked what they saw from the 20-year-old, but it seems as though they’re wearing rose-tinted glasses as Gotts’ performance wasn’t brilliant.

He was given a WhoScored rating of just 5.97 while failing to really take the game by the scruff of the neck as his pass accuracy was 73.9 per cent and he made only one key pass.

Others gave a much harsher view on the youngster’s debut as they were critical of his performance.

How many times have Leeds United won the FA Cup?

Fortunately, you can easily excuse Gotts struggling in this match as Arsenal fielded a rather strong squad filled with former World Cup and Champions League winners.

Hopefully, Gotts can prove himself as a first-teamer if he is ever handed an opportunity in a league game against weaker opposition.

In other news, Danny Pugh exclusively told FootballFanCast that Leeds “can’t go wrong” with one signing.
