Leeds fans think World Cup display will get Jansson sold

Leeds fans are all saying the same thing about Pontus Jansson’s impressive Sweden performance on Monday – it will put a few more figures on his price tag.

Jansson started in the heart of defence for Sweden on Monday, and the towering defender played a huge role in helping his country get their World Cup off to a winning start.

The Swedes beat South Korea 1-0, courtesy of a penalty from Andreas Granqvist, and Jansson was an absolute beast at the back.

The 27 year-old, who excelled at Elland Road on loan but suffered in a poorer team last season, won an incredible eight aerial duels, adding two tackles, two interceptions and an 89 per cent pass success rate.

While many fans feel the big Swede can excel again if paired with the right players at the back, his comments at the end of the season raised doubts over his future at the club, and plenty feel his World Cup stardom may force his move away.

Jansson also came under criticism from fans last season for “hiding” when the going got tough, not something that will be tolerated by new boss Marcelo Bielsa.
