Leeds fans unhappy with Conor Shaughnessy performance

Conor Shaughnessy turned out for Leeds United’s Under-23 outfit in their 2-2 drawn with Sheffield Wednesday Under-23s on Monday.

The 22-year-old played in midfield rather than in central defence, and looked extremely uncomfortable during his time on the field.

The former Under-21 Republic of Ireland international eventually picked up an injury which meant that he could not complete the match.

And the Leeds fans were not impressed with his performance for the Under-23s.

Shaughnessy came through the youth system at Reading before joining Leeds in 2016, and made his first-team debut for the Whites in August 2017.

The defender picked up a serious ankle injury in January though, which saw him miss the remainder of the 2017-18 campaign.

Shaughnessy returned to action in the EFL Cup against Preston North End last month, and will now be looking to play his way into Marcelo Bielsa’s team.
