Leeds fans unhappy with referee appointment for QPR clash

Peter Bankes has been appointed as the referee for Leeds United’s home Championship match against Queens Park Rangers this weekend.

Bankes has already taken charge of 13 Championship matches this season, and has handed out 68 yellow cards and two red.

Bankes was the man in the middle when Leeds lost their first Championship match of the season against Birmingham City back in September.

During the clash with Birmingham, Bankes handed out six yellows, and he has been quite card happy during the early stages of the 2018-19 campaign.

That said, the official was also in charge when Leeds recorded a 4-1 win over Derby County back in August.

This weekend’s clash at Elland Road will be huge for both teams, and it would be fair to say that the appointment of Bankes has not gone down very well with the Leeds supporters.
