Leeds fans urge club to sign James Collins after West Ham release

West Ham United favourite James Collins was reportedly told by email that his expiring contract wasn’t going to be renewed this summer, and Leeds United fans have urged their club to sign the defender, who earns £35,000-a-week according to the Daily Star.

Despite spending 11 seasons with the club in the Premier League – during two different spells – the east London outfit have decided not to keep the 34-year-old, although the way in which they are said to have told the Welshman doesn’t cover them in glory.

Meanwhile, the Yorkshire outfit will once again be aiming for a promotion push back to the top flight next season, and manager Paul Heckingbottom may feel he needs some extra experience and quality to compete with Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper in the centre-back positions.

Leeds supporters, who are not impressed on Twitter with the behaviour of one of their 20-year-old starlets, have been quick to have their say on Collins’ availability via social media, and while one said “top defender and sickening what’s happened to him”, another said “we will love and support you”.
