Leeds United fans on Twitter have made their feelings known after recent reports have linked them with a move for Middlesbrough’s Daniel Ayala.
The United fanbase would like to see the 29-year-old signed as he would provide some much-needed cover at centre-back as well as helping them with their ongoing set-piece problems.
You can understand that as well, Leeds have conceded 44% of their goals from dead-ball scenarios this season, so they could do with a defender with Ayala’s aerial prowess in order to combat those problems as he wins 3.9 aerial duels per game.
Depth is also a little bit of a problem in defence as well. Marcelo Bielsa has just three senior centre-backs in his squad, so the addition of Ayala would help alleviate some pressure there, especially when you consider the number of injuries Liam Cooper has been picking up as of late.
Whether or not the Spaniard ends up playing for the Whites remains to be seen, but the fans have made it clear that they want to see this transfer go through.
Here’s what the Elland Road faithful have been saying on Twitter…
Good signing for me. Gives us very adequate cover when coops is Injured and another option against bigger sides to help us with our Achilles heel which we all know is set pieces 🤷🏼♂️⚽️ #lufc #mot #Ayala

Be a good covering CB for the inevitable injuries. Will help with conceding from set pieces aswell

Be good in both areas as well. Big lad, loves a header. Something we’ve missed since Pontus left

He’s better than Berardi and decent cover for Cooper as Cooper is prone to getting injured

It’s because we need a CB to cover Cooper’s injuries which are mounting up this year and we don’t have the space for any more loans.
A bloke out of contract in the summer is next best option, to not spending. FWIW, I think he would be a smart signing tho.

He’d be great signing imo

I think so yes. Sign him and an attacking kid and we’ll be okay

#lufc should definitely sign Ayala if possible. Look at the facts. There’s a need for another central defender, and he’s long been one of the most consistent and dependable in this league. He has mountains of experience and the will to win at any cost. He’d be a great signing.

Actually, reckon he’d be an unreal signing, exactly what we need with our set-piece problems. Could be the difference between top 6 and top 2.
