Paul Heckingbottom has angered the Leeds United support by appearing to single out Tom Pearce in his post-match comments after Saturday’s defeat away to Norwich City.
As relayed by Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay, Heckingbottom commented on the fact it was a tough day for the 20-year-old with the Leeds boss suggesting pressure from Norwich was coming down his defensive side.
Heckingbottom felt the pressure from Norwich was coming down Leeds' left in the second half. Felt it was a lesson for Tom Pearce today. #lufc

Fans are not on board with his comments however, feeling it’s unfair to criticise the rookie defender, who has only made four appearances for the Elland Road side, especially with other glaring issues in the Leeds first team.
The pressure is mounting on Heckingbottom, with form pretty dire since he arrived as manager. With just one win in their last six, that form isn’t improving in the closing stages of the season.
Are supporters judging his latest comments too harshly or is he out of order mentioning Pearce in a negative manner post-match?

Criticising academy player, Tom Pearce, when we want/need him to sign a new contract. Paul Heckingbottom is clueless #lufc

Very strange to throw a young player under the bus. Again. I understood if from Colin, he's known for being a tosser, but I thought The Heck was known for being very good with the younger players.

Sorry but once again blaming the young lad which is a disgrace. I said that was where all the attack’s were coming from so where was our midfield protecting him in defence?

Useless all over the pitch yet he singles out a 20 year old that's made 3 appearances for the first team. Clueless.

So if he saw it when didn’t he do something about it – that’s what he’s paid for. Instead he just shames the young lad.

Disgrace. Why didn’t he protect him ? You could see the second goal coming. Picking on the younger players is cowardly

Contradicting himself once again. Swear he once said he wouldn't think of critiscing youth players.
That's twice now he's had a go at Pearce.

Awful comment, so many of the older players were shocking yet he singles out a young inexperienced player
