Leeds United are reportedly hoping to appoint Marcelo Bielsa as Paul Heckingbottom’s successor after the 40-year-old was sacked on Friday, and Whites fans are already excited about the prospect of Ezgjan Alioski playing under the Argentine boss.
The Yorkshire outfit are on the search for a new manager as they look for a successful Championship campaign next time out, and they could go for the 62-year-old who is known for playing a 3-3-1-3 formation that allows for a high press.
While a number of Victor Orta’s 2017 summer signings disappointed, Alioski was one of the success stories as he ended the 2017/18 campaign with seven goals and a further six assists in 45 appearances in all competitions, and his energy and work-rate would mean he could be a perfect fit for Bielsa’s demands.
Leeds supporters, who believe a big development on Saturday night means they have almost sealed a deal for their first summer signing, have been quick to have their say about the potential link-up between the duo.
While one said “he fits the tactics of Bielsa so well”, another said “I actually think a Bielsa-coached Alioski will be one of the most threatening wingers in the league”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
With the style of play of #Bielsa I can not wait to see #PHernandez #Alioski #Roofe and #Saiz to play offensive (spectacular) football ?? It would be interesting to see also RB / LB (#Ayling #Pearce and #Coyle mainly) i'm so impatient to see that during the preseason #lufc

Personally I think Alioski will flourish next year, but I have no doubts that if someone of the calibre of Bielsa comes, we’re In for a big summer.

I think that he will come on loads for last season. If he is employed as a wing back under Bielsa, I think he might be even better.

Think Alioski will have a great season under Bielsa. He fits the tactics of Bielsa so well. A year of the championship under his belt too. Looking forward to seeing him next season. #lufc

@wi1son79 Alioski plays like a whippet pup on LSD flying around all over the place he often over runs the player he charges 50mtrs to close down a bit of guidance from someone like Bielsa would make him a better player IMO https://t.co/PMc1RejoFS

Yeah I actually think a Bielsa-coached Alioski will be one of the most threatening wingers in the league.
He certainly has the work rate he just needs the direction in his play.
