Leeds have knocked on the door of various Premier League clubs this month asking to loan one of their strikers, but as of yet, they’ve had no luck.
However, their path to signing one of the above players may have just got a lot easier with Phil Hay stating that the Hornets are now more open to letting Gray join the Yorkshire outfit.
The reporter spoke on The Athletic’s Ornstein & Chapman Podcast to discuss Leeds’ transfer plans.

With no Eddie Nketiah replacement through the door, the Whites still need a forward, and Hay addressed the state of play when it comes to two of Leeds’ current targets.
He stated that the Adams situation hasn’t changed, but he gave a more positive view on United’s chances of landing Gray.
“They’ve enquired about Andre Gray down at Watford, they were initially told no about him, but Watford have now softened their stance and I think they’re now open to loan offers for him,” the journalist said (The Ornstein & Chapman Podcast 20/1/20 19:30).
If a deal can be reached to get Gray to Elland Road this month, then Leeds mustn’t hesitate to go out and get him.
The striker was the Golden Boot winner and the Player of the Year last time he was in the Championship, and if he can rediscover that form, he’d be a great addition to a squad lacking firepower.
Leeds’ woes continued last Saturday as Patrick Bamford spurned a tremendous first-half opportunity before seeing a penalty saved as well.
Hay stated in the same podcast that Adams is still the number one target, but Gray should now be ahead of him in the pecking order as a deal to land him sounds far more viable.
Whether or not Gray joins the Yorkshire club remains to be seen, but this is certainly an encouraging update for Leeds.
In other news, Phil Hay has suggested that one Leeds transfer is all but done.
