According to The Sun, Leeds United are interested in loaning defender Jake Clarke-Salter from Chelsea.
The report also states that the Whites are worried that the deal may not come to fruition if Frank Lampard gets the job, but that isn’t the only reason they should be concerned about their approach for the 21-year-old.
Of course, Marcelo Bielsa’s team’s ongoing feud with Lampard will not help Leeds’ chances of landing the 6 ft 1 youngster if the Derby boss does in fact take charge at Stamford Bridge.
Spygate kick-started the rivalry as the two managers were embroiled in a war of words. The 2019 playoff semi-final clash between the Whites and the Rams didn’t help matters either. Leeds fans were vocal in mocking the former England international, and there is certainly no love lost between Lamps and the Yorkshire outfit.
Leeds may well be concerned about this deal hinging on whether or not their foe gets the job at his former club, but Chelsea have other reasons to reject this move.
Although the Whites and the Blues have had a good relationship in the past when it comes to loan signings, Bielsa’s use of Chelsea’s youngsters last season won’t have pleased the London outfit.

Izzy Brown, Jamal Blackman and Lewis Baker all arrived at Elland Road on loan last term, but they all saw their development hampered by the Yorkshire club as they played just 234 league minutes between them – Blackman found himself behind Bailey Peacock-Farrell in the pecking order before breaking his leg and returning to west London to undergo rehabilitation.
Surely Chelsea won’t want another youngster to go to the Championship just to sit on the bench, and with how Bielsa utilised their players last season you can see why they would be hesitant to loan Leeds anyone else.
