Leeds relying on loan market as Phil Hay gives latest update

Phil Hay of The Yorkshire Evening Post has told Leeds fans they are close to signing an unnamed Premier League player on loan that could turn into a permanent deal.

What’s the story?

Leeds haven’t had the busiest transfer window so far with a loan move for Chelsea’s Lewis Baker the only arrival at Elland Road this summer.

It appears goalkeeper Jamal Blackman could soon be the second loan deal of the summer, but according to Phil Hay, another loan deal for a Premier League player is on the horizon.

Who could it be?

The likely options considering who Leeds have recently linked with would be Jordan Hugill or Domingos Quina, both from West Ham United.

They are both players who are likely to be available on loan with a potential permanent deal also possible with Quina only having one year left on his contract and Hugill struggling to break into the team since his move in January.

It’s interesting that Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani is looking at loan deals rather than splash the cash this summer, and it suggests that the purse strings could be tightening after the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa.
