Leeds should move for Alfredo Morelos if they are promoted

Alfredo Morelos has been in excellent form for Rangers this season, and Leeds United should move for the centre-forward if they are promoted to the Premier League.

What’s the word, then?

Morelos joined Rangers from Finnish club HJK in the summer of 2017, and the forward has proved to be an absolute revelation at Ibrox.

Indeed, the Colombia international has managed 34 goals in 69 appearances for the Gers in all competitions, including 16 strikes in 26 matches this season.

At the weekend, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard insisted that he would ‘fight tooth and nail to keep’ Morelos at the club for as long as possible.

Gerrard conceded that ‘every player has his price’, however, and the attention will gather pace if Morelos continues to find the back of the net.

Leeds are one of the clubs that should be looking at the South American, and the Whites must make a move at the end of the season if they earn promotion to the Premier League.

Why should Leeds move for Morelos?

Rangers are in a strong position when it comes to Morelos’ future due to the fact that the 22-year-old only signed a new contract in September.

Money talks, however, and there is every reason to believe that Leeds will invest heavily if they are promoted from the Championship.

The Whites currently sit third in the Championship after 18 matches, and are in with a strong chance of securing a return to the top flight.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team will need to upgrade their attack if that turns out to be the case, and Morelos would be the perfect arrival due to his age and pedigree.

Rangers supporters might not like it, but the club will find it very difficult not to cash in if sizeable bids start to arrive.
