According to a recent report from Football Insider, Leeds United are keen on signing Swansea winger Daniel James in January, but any deal would be bad news for Elland Road youngster Jack Clarke.
Football Insider report that Marcelo Bielsa has given the green light to Andrea Radrizzani and the Leeds hierarchy for them to pursue the signing of James, who will be out of contract at the Liberty Stadium come the end of this season if he fails to sign a new deal.
The left-winger has broken into the first team at Swansea this season under new boss Graham Potter, having come through the ranks at Hull in the first half of his youth career. He has also been called up to Ryan Giggs’ senior Wales squad for this week’s games against Denmark and Albania.
So far during this campaign, James has registered four assists in 11 appearances for the Swans and it is easy to see why Leeds are interested.

However, this interest in James could have a negative impact on Thorp Arch academy graduate Clarke. The 17-year-old is also an extremely exciting young left-winger and Marcelo Bielsa has used him three times off the bench so far this season.
His introduction sparked life into a lacklustre looking Leeds side against Nottingham Forest a few weeks back, and he almost unlocked the Reds’ defence with a curling shot from the corner of the box just after coming on.
Bringing in 21-year-old James would clearly slow down Clarke’s inevitable rise into the first team at Elland Road, and although the Welshman is a fantastic player it could stop one of Leeds’ homegrown talents from fulfilling his potential, or worse, it could even force him to move on.
So, Leeds fans, would you like to see a move for James in January or would you rather Clarke is given more of a chance? Have your say by voting in the poll below.
