Sunday’s Championship game was more than just a league match for Leeds United fans as they faced their former manager Garry Monk.
The 38-year-old took charge of Middlesbrough in the summer after leaving Elland Road.
Monk was in charge of the Whites for just one season, in which the club narrowly missed out on a playoff spot.
Some fans were angry when the ex-Swansea City boss walked away, so witnessing their team win at the weekend was made even sweeter.
Goals from Pablo Hernandez and Ezgjan Alisoki were enough to secure all three points for Leeds.
Britt Assombalonga got on the scoresheet for Boro from the penalty spot, but it proved to be a consolation goal for the visiting side at Elland Road.
The result ended a run of three consecutive league defeats for Leeds and put them up to seventh, level on points with Sunday’s opponents.
After the match, the supporters took aim at Monk, who told reporters that his team deserved more out of the game.
glad we got rid of monk.. just goes to show if we gave him funds to do whatever he wanted.. Christ can you imagine fan backlash at Boro results #lufc

Ok, I didn't think I was that bothered about the Monk thing, 'just another game' right? Wrong! Turns out i was a little bit bothered! So so happy for the win and Elland Road was rocking #lufc #mot #together

Classic Monk post match interview, saying his team deserved more. The game should've been out of sight after an hour. Victory very much deserved. #lufc

So happy tonight – it's not just that we got one over on Monk, it's that it reconfirmed that we can play in that amazing way we did earlier this season – it wasn't a collective dream, we really can outplay teams like that. #lufc
