According to a report by Football Insider on April 16, popular Leeds United defender Luke Ayling is one of 13 senior players fighting for their futures at the club following another disappointing campaign, and Whites fans have been having their say on the rumour about the right-back.
The 26-year-old has been one of his side’s most consistent performers over the course of the last few seasons – even being a stand-in captain on occasions – and he was one of their better players in an up-and-down start to the Championship campaign.
The Yorkshire outfit have slipped away over the course of the last six months with just two wins in their previous 19 league games, and Ayling has missed the majority of that run after picking up a season-ending ankle injury on New Year’s Day – the Elland Road faithful were furious on Twitter after his replacement Gaetano Berardi picked up a five-match ban earlier this month.
Leeds supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the story that the club could cash in on the defender this summer, and while one described him as the “best player at the club”, another said “if they sell Ayling, I honestly give up”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
No way should Ayling be on that list, best RB at the club by a mile & can also play in a back 3 too, been badly missed this season

Need to keep Ayling 100% – his forward runs, vision and effort are still needed. I'd like to see Ayling and Coyle being choice RB's.
