Leeds United have endured a saddening fall from grace. Not so long ago the Yorkshire outfit were competing in the Champions League with some of the biggest names in European football, but now they’re hosting the likes of Rotherham rather than Real Madrid and AC Milan.
The club have lurched between financial catastrophe and disaster for some time, with mad owners, mis-management and general antics not befitting of a top football club commonplace at Elland Road… and they’re once again back in the headlines for the wrong reasons.
The Sun are claiming that Whites boss Neil Redfearn has been told not to play top scorer Mirco Antenucci – who has 10 goals this season – again in case he scores a goal.
Madness. There is some logic to this however, with the 30-year-old one strike away from triggering a clause in his contract that will extend his stay by a season and, more importantly, entitle him to a hefty bonus.
Leeds are reluctant to shell out cash they don’t have – makes a change.
