Yosuke Ideguchi made his return from a serious knee injury in Greuther Furth’s 4-0 defeat to Cologne in the second tier of German football on Monday night.
The 22-year-old is still contracted to Leeds United, having joined the Championship side on a four-and-a-half-year deal from Gamba Osaka back in January 2018.
The 12-time Japan international has not made a single first-team appearances for the Whites, though, and according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Greuther Furth have the option to sign Ideguchi on a permanent deal this summer, which is expected to happen.
It had initially been feared that the midfielder would miss the remainder of the season after picking up the knee injury in September, but he is now back on the field.
The Leeds fans have been on social media offering their thoughts on the situation, which is a little bit strange.

What actually happened with this signing? Did the club expect him to make an impact or was it for commercial gain in Asia?

We make so many weird signings. He must have spent..what…a month total in the UK. Hasn’t even had an u23s match. What was the point of this? Are we still paying someone to recruit for us in the far east?
