El Hadji Diouf

Spitting enthusiast El Hadji Diouf isn’t the kind of player you want hanging around your club too long if his services aren’t absolutely essential, so it’s a good job his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

The former Liverpool and Blackburn forward has managed to refrain from gobbing on anyone during his Elland Road stay, but did get himself beaten up for offending patrons of a Dakari bar back in May last year after receiving a red card for gesturing towards Brighton fans a month previous, adding two more incidents to an already ridiculous wrap-sheet of on and off pitch misdemeanours.

He’s missed a significant portion of the current campaign for personal reasons, namely the death of Senegal coach Bruno Metsu and attending the funeral of Nelson Mandela, which has resulted in Diouf making just six Championship appearances since the summer, with only two being starts.

But a consummate professional, the 33 year-old is certainly not, and unable to prove his attitude and age are no issue via performances on the pitch, it’s unlikely Diouf’s contract will be renewed.
