Ciprian Marica has been linked with a number of top flight clubs this summer after his contract with Schalke 04 expired at the end of last season, including Arsenal and West Ham, who are both short of firepower.
But the striker and part-time winger is yet to receive any formal offers for his services, and Leeds could swoop in if no potential suitors turn up in the near future.
A Romanian international, Marica has a scoring record of 22 goals in 64 appearances for his country, whilst at club level his career total stands at 68 goals in 330 appearances from spells with Shaktar Donetsk, Dinamo Bucuresti, Stuttgart and Schalke, although it’s worth mentioning that the vast majority have been as a substitute.
The 6 foot 1 forward can play on the flanks or as an out-and-out striker, and at 27 years of age, has plenty of gas left in the tank.
Wages could be an issue, but Marica could view a move to Elland Road as a gateway to the Premier League.
