Former Leeds United defender Tony Dorigo recently appeared on the LS11 podcast, where he suggested that West Brom striker Dwight Gayle would be the ideal man to help Leeds United get promoted to the Premier League this season.
15-cap ex-England international Dorigo plied his trade at Elland Road for six seasons between 1991 and 1997. In that time, the Whites were a top flight outfit, now, though, they are a Championship side.
When asked which other current Championship player he would add to Marcelo Bielsa’s squad now to help Leeds on their way to promotion this season, Dorigo named Gayle. The 53-year-old said, “who’s going to guarantee me about 10 goals between now and the end of the season? Gayle at West Brom”.

With the fate of the Championship title looking set to go down to the wire, Leeds would certainly welcome some additional firepower in the remaining months.
Leeds have struggled to find the back of the net in recent weeks. Whilst they remain in the hunt for the title, and of course automatic promotion to the top flight, they need the likes of Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford to hit their best form soon.
Were it possible for Bielsa to add Gayle to his squad then the 29-year-old Newcastle United loanee would certainly give the Whites a boost. The striker has been in fine form at the Hawthorns this season. As per Transfermarkt’s stats, he has racked up 16 goals in 25 league outings for the Baggies.
That kind of prolific return is exactly what Leeds are crying out for right now.
