Vurnon Anita is set to stay at Leeds United next season according to prominent journalist Phil Hay.
The 29-year-old versatile player joined Leeds from Newcastle in 2017 and went on to make 18 appearances for the Whites last season in the Championship.
The Netherlands international who is valued at £3.15million on Transfermarkt struggled to nail down a position and was mainly used as a left back but was replaced by youngster Tom Pearce at the end of the season.
According to Phil Hay, Anita was heading out of the door at Elland Road at the start of the summer but he is now apparently not on new boss Marcelo Bielsa’s list of players he wants to get rid of this transfer window.
had been earmarked to go at the start of the summer but not so sure now. Wasn’t on Bielsa’s exit list. Still recovering from injury.

While Vurnon Anita might not be the most exciting player on Leeds’ roster, he is a useful man to stick around as he can be employed across the defence and midfield.

There is other dead wood in the squad that needs to go before Anita, and his season was hampered by injuries and being forced to play as a full-back rather than in midfield where he is more comfortable.
Let’s not forget he is a Championship winning player and if he hangs around for another season then perhaps he can repeat the same feat as Bielsa looks to take Leeds back to the top.
