According to Bristol Live, Middlesbrough have had a £5m bid accepted by Bristol City for defender Joe Bryan as they look to seal the move ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Bryan, 24, played in Bristol City’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest in the Championship at the weekend, but now looks set to move on.
Boro and Aston Villa are understood to have had bids accepted for the defender, and it will be a straight battle between the two teams as the transfer window approaches its latter stages.
Bryan scored seven times in 48 appearances for Bristol City last season – including a goal against Manchester United in the EFL Cup.
The fact that Bryan, who has also been linked with West Ham United, looked at home against Man United means that it will be a major coup for whichever club is able to sign him.
Boro have already raided Bristol City to sign Aden Flint this summer, and the club’s supporters are hopeful that Bryan is on the verge of moving to the Riverside Stadium.
A selection of the reaction from thee Boro supporters can be seen below:

Need this deal to go through!!! Surely we are due for some transfer luck to go our way!!! Huge potential in this bloke, as much as George got us out of trouble on the weekend, we need youth. We need to build a team of young players who will stay with us for years to come!!!!
