One half of Super Sunday is done and dusted and the term super has to be used in the most loose of terms possible.

The game was Middlesbrough against Watford at the Riverside Stadium and, during the first half particularly, it was a pretty poor ninety-odd minutes to sit through.

The one bit of quality was the goal. Jose Holebas' left-footed strike from the edge of the box briefly woke us up from our Sunday afternoon slumber but things soon quietened down again as Boro never really looked like threatening, despite being at home, and eventually surrendered to a 1-0 defeat.

The result leaves Aitor Karanka's men still without a home win this season and facing a relegation dogfight, whilst Walter Mazzarri's Watford have gone up to ninth in the league with the three points.

A less than memorable game, then, but here are five things we learned from it anyway...

Antonio Barragan is the world's luckiest man

Valencia's Antonio Barragan

This is no exaggeration. The Spaniard could have received three yellow cards at least for his performance. He was rightly booked in the first half and should have been sent minutes later after hauling Isaac Success to the floor. He stayed on, somehow, but could have gone later on in the match too before Aitor Karanka finally hooked him off.

Mid-table at best for both

Watford v AFC Bournemouth - Premier League

Whilst the Hornets now sit in the top half you can't see them getting much higher based on this performance. Neither side were that inventive nor willing to gamble enough and that caused such a dour match to watch. Middlesbrough look like they could be in for a real struggle this season.

Roger East is inconsistent

Roger East just didn't have a good game and it was summed up in one particular passage of play. After the aforementioned Barragan got away with his foul on Isaac Success, Cristhian Stuani was booked minutes later for a very similar looking foul. Consistency is all you want from the man in the middle and unfortunately East didn't offer that today.

Success looks assured

Isaac Success

Isaac Success made his first Premier League start ahead of Odion Ighalo this afternoon and looked immediately at home in the division. He ran at players and was a nuisance throughout, whilst he gave Barragan the run around in particular. Based on this performance, he's bound to play more for the Hornets from now on.

Jose Holebas has got a shot on him

Despite most of the dross, Holebas scored a fine goal worthy of winning any game. The left-back was quickest to react to the ball breaking free on the edge of the box and within seconds he'd cracked it into the top corner of Victor Valdes' net. He had a solid game all round and that was the icing on the cake for the Greek international.
