Gabriel Batistuta’s iconic status not enough to sway Boro fans

It seems like the vacancy left by the ex-Middlesborough man Tony Pulis is a spot many are keen to contest. Of course, Jonathan Woodgate, the club’s former defender, is still the standout candidate but it seems like the Riverside Stadium job has attracted some other potential big fish.

If the reports of The Hartlepool Mail are to be believed, former Argentina striker and legend of the game Gabriel Batistuta is being linked with the job opening and might have put his name in the hat.

The fans were, of course, pretty quick to jump on that news, offering their insight and opinions. Even though having such a big name as Batistuta’s at the helm sounds surreal, it seems that they would rather have someone with a bit more experience steering their team forward.

One of the main reasons as to why this job would simply not suit Batigol is the fact that this would indeed be his first managerial role and as such, he might just be too big of a risk to take.

While his footballing career is under no circumstances undermined by the Boro fans, some of them are definitely putting his experience and sheer love for the game in question.

Here’s a look at what Boro fans are saying about the shock Batistuta rumours…
