During the summer transfer window Middlesbrough tried to lure Luke Freeman away from Queens Park Rangers.

Tony Pulis's club failed to get a deal over the line, though, as QPR rejected two bids for the midfielder.

Now, the 26-year-old has opened up about the saga, admitting that he did consider moving on due to his hopes of Premier League promotion.

As quoted by West London Sport, Freeman said:

"It was difficult. I’d be lying if I said my head wasn’t turned, because to some extent it was."

It is easy to see why Middlesbrough took a liking to the midfielder given that during his time at QPR, he has racked up 18 assists and scored seven goals.

At the moment Boro are in a positive position as they currently sit fourth in the Championship table, three points adrift of leaders Sheffield United after 12 games.

It is likely that the club will be looking at the January market as a way to bolster their current options.

After Freeman's comments, should his name be placed back on the wishlist?
