As reported in an exclusive by The Sun, Middlesbrough are resigned to losing their star attacking midfielder, Gaston Ramirez in this month’s transfer window.
Gaston Ramirez has been in excellent form for Boro this season but it’s seems their relationship is due to come to an end, but has Karanka found his perfect replacement?
The Sun reckon that Ramirez is forcing his way out of the club and that Boro are willing to let him go to Leicester City for £10m.
That opens the door for Stoke star Bojan Krkic to make the move to the Riverside, with Karanka reportedly very keen on the Spaniard.
The two players play a similar role for their clubs but it’s Gaston Ramirez who has made more of a contribution and shown more consistency across the season so far.
Gaston has scored twice and assisted three times more in this term whereas Bojan has scored three times.
On his day, the Uruguayan is the spark that brings Middlesbrough to life. Replacing that kind of talismanic presence in the Boro midfield is going to prove very tough if he is indeed off.
Bojan has a rich pedigree and plenty of quality but is he ready and does he have the mentality to become the main man at a club and drag them through tricky fixtures.
Jury’s out on that one, for us.
