Lewis Wing signs new deal, Middlesbrough fans react

Middlesbrough’s season is going to plan at the moment as they remain in the hunt for promotion.

Tony Pulis lost some key players in the summer transfer window, but he recruited a number of faces and the club now find themselves fourth in the Championship, three points adrift of leaders Sheffield United.

In recent matches, though, Boro have squandered the chance to go to the summit of the league.

Prior to the international break, the team were beaten 2-0 by Nottingham Forest at the Riverside Stadium.

One man who started the season in the team was Lewis Wing, who joined the club from non-league Shildon in the summer of 2017.

The 23-year-old featured in the first four Championship games of the season, but since the club’s 2-0 win over Bristol City, he has not made an appearance in the league.

In total, Wing has made six appearances in all competitions, creating three assists in the process.

Despite not being involved in 10 of Boro’s 15 games this season, the club see him as a valuable member of the squad as they announced on Thursday that Wing has extended his contract until 2022.

The reaction on Twitter was a positive one, with plenty of fans urging Pulis to put him back in the team.
