According to TEAMtalk, Middlesbrough are prepared to offer West Bromwich Albion Britt Assombalonga in order to seal a deal for Matt Phillips this summer.

Phillips has been strongly linked with a move away from West Brom in recent days, and Boro are believed to be one of a number of clubs interested in a deal.

The report claims that Assombalonga is surplus to requirements this summer, and could leave the Riverside Stadium after just one season.

Boro paid a club-record £15m for Assombalonga last summer, and the former Nottingham Forest striker scored 15 Championship goals last season.

The 25-year-old continues to be linked with a move away from Tony Pulis' side, however, with West Brom now seemingly in a strong position for the 5ft 10in ace.

The Boro fans have been airing their views on the transfer speculation on social media, and it would be fair to say that the majority are against this particular deal taking place.
