According to TEAMtalk, Middlesbrough want to sign Aston Villa midfielder Birkir Bjarnason in this summer’s transfer window.
Villa are under pressure to sell this summer due to their financial problems, and Bjarnason is one of a number of players to be linked with a move away.
The 30-year-old, who represented Iceland at the 2018 World Cup, scored four times in 29 appearances for Villa last season.
The Villa fans are desperate for the 70-time Iceland international to remain with their club this summer, and that is all very well because the Boro supporters do not want him.
It is a slight surprise that the Boro fans were so dismissive of Bjarnason when considering his pedigree in the sport, but that is the view they shared on social media.
The new Championship season is now only around the corner, and the final weeks of the transfer window are shaping up to be very interesting indeed.

Isn’t he a defensive minded midfielder? Yup, definitely need one of those.

Bjarnason is a decent player but if he comes you can pretty much guarantee no Besic return… I know who I’d rather have 🤔

Hope there is no truth in either of these stories. Like MP but not at the expense of loosing Britt, and if we are after anyone from Villa Id take Hourihan..
