Middlesbrough announced on Wednesday afternoon that they had completed the signing of West Ham United forward Jordan Hugill on loan for the 2018-19 campaign.

Hugill scored 10 times in 29 appearances for Preston North End in the first half of last season before sealing a surprise move to West Ham in January.

The forward only played 22 minutes of Premier League football for the Hammers in the second half of the 2017-18 campaign, however, and has now been allowed to move on.

The 26-year-old was born in Middlesbrough, and will look to help Tony Pulis' side challenge for promotion to the Premier League this season.

The Boro fans have been reacting to the deal on social media, and it would be fair to say that the majority are pleased with the acquisition.

Hugill was trolled on a number of occasions due to his struggles in the second half of last season, but he has already proved that he can score goals at Championship level.
