Jordan Hugill’s move to West Ham United from Preston North End in January was absolutely bizarre.
The centre-forward did not have a sniff at the Hammers in the second half of the 2017-18 campaign, and moved on loan to Middlesbrough during the summer.
Hugill was handed his first Boro start on Wednesday night, with Tony Pulis’ side recording a 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers at the Riverside Stadium.
The 26-year-old showed at Preston that he can score goals in the second tier, and will be looking to get off the mark for Boro as soon as possible.
The Boro fans have been on social media reacting to his performance against Bolton, and it was a largely positive response from the supporters.
Hugill found it difficult to win over the West Ham fans, but will he hoping to help Boro challenge for promotion to the top flight this season.
A selection of the Twitter reaction from the Boro fans can be seen below:
Nothing better than a boro lad in a boro shirt putting a shift in. More of this please

Felt for you tonight, you grafted all game and must of been knackered. The ref gave you nothing and we didn’t play to your strengths. Keep it up that level of graft is exactly what the fans want
