Monday, July 16, 2018 marked three years since Stewart Downing returned to Middlesbrough from West Ham United.
The former England international came through the youth system at Boro, and went on to make more than 230 appearances for the club before joining Aston Villa in 2009.
The attacker spent two seasons with Villa before joining Liverpool, and managed seven goals in 91 appearances for the Reds ahead of a move to West Ham in 2013.
Two seasons with West Ham brought 79 appearances and seven goals, before Downing returned to Boro in 2015 for their 2015-16 Championship season.
The 33-year-old has made another 130 appearances for Boro since his return, and scored three times and registered seven assists in 47 matches in all competitions last term.
Boro’s official Twitter account pointed out the three-year anniversary on Monday, and the club’s supporters were on hand to offer their views on the hometown boy.
