Middlesbrough have only scored 22 times in their 20 Championship matches during the 2018-19 campaign.

The likes of Britt Assombalonga, Jordan Hugill and Rudy Gestede have all struggled for form, but all three are ahead of Ashley Fletcher in the pecking order.

Fletcher, who joined Boro from West Ham in 2017, has not made a Championship appearance for Boro since August.

The 23-year-old has scored three times in four EFL Cup appearances, however, and it does seem strange that he cannot get a game when considering Boro's issues in the final third of the field.

Tony Pulis has been commenting on Fletcher's position in the squad, with the Boro boss admitting that the centre-forward must show more personality if he is to be successful at this level of football.

The Boro fans have reacted to Pulis' comments by demanding that the 6ft 1in striker is given the opportunity to show his worth in the coming weeks.
