Middlesbrough are said to be chasing 17-year-old Swiss midfielder Stephane Cueni, per reports in Calciomercato earier this week.

Cueni represents his country at U18 level and has become the centre of attention in a transfer saga involving Serie A outfits Udinese, Torino and Parma, with Middlesbrough said to be forming English opposition to their pursuits.

Interest is said to be rising in the 5 foot 9 Lausanne-born prospect due to the teenager excelling in his recent performances for Team Vaud, earning the captain’s armband on four occasions, and the midfielder’s contract expiring in the summer, creating a possible free transfer scenario.
