With the loan market in the Football League due to close on Friday, plenty of Championship clubs have been eagerly awaiting transfer news.
Middlesbrough have been linked to a string of players, mainly wingers and midfielders.
However, on Thursday, the club surprised fans by announcing the arrival of left-back Sam McQueen from Southampton.

The 23-year-old has agreed a season-long loan and will wear the number 14 shirt for Boro on the pitch.
The versatility of McQueen is good news for the Championship club as he can play either in a full-back position or in an attacking role on the left side.
The young player has come through the academy at Southampton, and so far in his career has made 20 Premier League appearances for the coastal club.
McQueen will have a chance to rack up the minutes at the Riverside Stadium, but his arrival has been met with a mixed response from Boro fans, some of whom have expressed their opinions on Twitter.
Out of nowhere! Kept this one under wraps. Welcome to the club Sam. #UTB
